What we collect about you, why, and what you can do about it. It's short on purpose.

Who we are

What we collect, and why

When you book or enquire: your name, phone number, email address, and your vehicle's make, model, year, registration and what it needs. We use it to contact you, prepare for the job, do the work, and keep an accurate service history for your car. Giving it is voluntary — but we can't book work in without it.

When you visit this website: we use Google Analytics, which records which pages you look at, roughly how long you stay, your device and browser, and an approximate location from your internet connection. It doesn't record your name and we make no attempt to work out who you are. We use it only to see which pages are useful.

Who else sees it

Your booking details are seen by our own staff. Where a job needs parts ordered or specialist work we can't do here, we pass on only what that supplier needs to do their part. We don't sell your information, and we don't share it for anyone else's marketing.

Some services we use to run this website are provided by companies based overseas, including Google. Some of this information is therefore stored outside New Zealand, on servers subject to those countries' laws.

How long we keep it

Service records are kept for seven years — a vehicle's history is genuinely useful years later, to you, to us, and to whoever buys the car from you. Enquiries that don't lead to work are kept for twelve months and then deleted.

Keeping it safe

We take reasonable steps to protect what we hold against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. If something does go wrong and it's likely to cause you serious harm, we're required to tell both you and the Privacy Commissioner — and we will.

Seeing it and correcting it

You can ask what we hold about you, and have anything wrong corrected. Ring us on 09 444 9430 and we'll sort it out. There's no charge, you don't need to give a reason, and we'll respond within 20 working days as the law requires.

Turning off the website measurement

If you'd rather not be counted by Google Analytics, on this or any other site, Google publishes a browser add-on that switches it off permanently: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Nothing here will stop working if you use it.

If you're not happy

Talk to us first — 09 444 9430 — because most things are a misunderstanding and can be fixed the same day. If we can't resolve it, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner: privacy.org.nz or 0800 803 909. It costs nothing.
